What started as a humble by-donation service during the first few months of the Covid-19 pandemic, HD Window Cleaners has evolved over the years into a highly sought-after professional service, fully insured and ready to take on your project!

In May & June 2020, our owner/operator Dan Tait was out of work, and tired of sitting around. Dan’s industry - the music scene - dissolved in the early days of Covid. He was waiting and hoping to get back to work, and reluctantly collecting CERB cheques. He’s a natural busybody, and his purpose is deeply tied in with his work - so collecting money he wasn’t working for didn’t sit well.

Dan bought some ladders and gathered some old equipment from his early days as a window cleaner, and began the first evolution of this business - Handy Dan Windows, Etc. It began as a by-donation service run out of a little red Ford Focus. With some ladders strapped to the roof of a car, buckets and buckets of rags in the trunk, and a couple of Facebook ads, Dan officially launched into this business.

Throughout the years Dan worked on developing the business and maintained a very high customer retention rate - due in part to his fair pricing, but largely to his unmatched customer service, his attention to detail, and his friendly & relaxed on-site personality.

Dan’s experience as a landscaper & carpenter allowed him to take on some larger-scale projects - doing everything from fences to decks, finishing carpentry to sheep-shacks, irrigation to hardscaping. He carried this out under the Handy Dan name, while simultaneously cleaning windows & gutters across the Okanagan Valley. But now as the business is still growing (and insurance costs continue to grow) Dan is leaving the carpentry & landscaping aspect of this business behind.

Since spring 2020, Handy Dan Windows has become one of the most sought after window cleaning services in the Okanagan. Dan’s luxury and commercial clientele have grown by leaps and bounds, and his regular business keeps him working on site from March to November.

Now, as Dan looks to grow his team and his humble fleet, he has undertaken a re-brand to HD Window Cleaners. A full-service exterior detailing business catered to some of the most familiar brands in the Okanagan, and prepared to meet all of the needs of his very special Okanagan-based clientele. Dan is still an active performer in the Canadian music scene, and is often seen performing across BC. He is a professional MC for BC Snowboard & Canada Snowboard, as well as the USASA. Dan spends much of his time away from work on the slopes, on the rivers & lakes of BC, and with his young family at home in Glenrosa.
